Mill Machine Operator I

JOB SUMMARY: Independently sets up and operates one primary assigned millwork machine(s) and one secondary millwork machine (e.g. HPJ horizontal drilling) to surface, cut, and shape wood-based raw materials and to fabricate parts for wood products such as cabinets, doors, walls, trim, tables, specialty fixtures, and etc. by performing the following duties:


Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:                                                                                                

1. Selects, installs, and adjusts saw blades, cutter heads, boring bits, and other devices in respective machines.
2. Reads and interprets drawings, cut lists, schematics to verify machine settings and materials match component specificatio
3. Starts machine and makes trial cut.
4. Verifies dimensions of parts for adherence to specifications.
5. Operates computer system and machine programming.
6. Inspects cut parts to make sure they meet quality standards and adherence to all necessary tolerances.
7. Separates and labels all parts in a neat and orderly fashion.
8. Accurately maintains and updates WC performance boards hourly.
9. Properly clocks in and out of work orders and posts correct number of parts completed per the work order.
10. Properly records materials used in inventory log.
11. Conducts basic troubleshooting of machine performance issues.
12. Performs minimal routine machine preventive maintenance as listed on maintenance form.
13. Immediately notifies supervision of any issues related to machine performance, material quality, and documentation
14. Observes all safety rules and works in a safe manner at all times.
15. Keeps machine area clean and organized daily.

1. Meets dress code/uniform standards; appearance is neat and clean
2. Completes any training requirements
3. Maintains dependable attendance
4. Wears ID badge while on company property or job sites
5. Works in a safe manner and observes all safety regulations
6. Performs other duties as assigned or requested


Education and Experience Requirements:  High school diploma or GED; and 6 months to three years related experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to measure and calculate dimensions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: Ability to utilize Microsoft Windows for opening, navigating various Microsoft Office products and machine operating systems.
